Installing SpendWellFi
SpendWellFi is a private, offline desktop app. Your financial data never leaves your computer. Installation takes about two minutes.
1. Download the right version (Windows)
- Most Windows PCs (Intel/AMD) → the x64 installer.
- ARM64 Windows (Surface Pro X, Snapdragon laptops) → the ARM64 installer.
Not sure? Open Settings → System → About and look at System type: "x64-based" means x64, "ARM-based" means ARM64. When in doubt, choose x64. Download links are on the download page from your purchase.
2. Install
- Double-click the downloaded
…-setup.exe. - If Windows shows a "Windows protected your PC" SmartScreen notice, click More info → Run anyway. That notice is Microsoft's reputation system being cautious about new releases — it fades as more people install each version.
- Follow the prompts. SpendWellFi installs for the current user — no admin password needed.
3. Activate your license
On first launch you'll be asked for your license key —
the SWF1-… code from your purchase email (subject line
includes "SpendWellFi license").
- Paste the whole key and click Activate.
- Activation happens on your computer — SpendWellFi doesn't send your key or any data over the internet.
- Moving to a new PC? Install there and enter the same key. To free up the old one, open Settings → About → Deactivate on this computer.
4. First run
- Create your profile(s) — each person on the same computer sees only their own view.
- Add accounts and import a statement (CSV, Excel/Google Sheets export, or PDF).
- Your data is stored locally in your
AppData\Localfolder, which cloud-sync services like OneDrive don't touch — nothing is uploaded. Generated reports are saved toDocuments\SpendWellFi\Reports\where you can find them easily.
Backups
SpendWellFi keeps automatic daily local backups (restorable from Settings → Data Management) and you can export anytime. Because your data lives only on this computer, consider occasionally saving an Encrypted Backup to a USB drive or another machine.
macOS
Download the .dmg from the download
page, open it, and drag SpendWellFi to Applications. The build is
signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a Gatekeeper warning.
Activation and first-run steps are the same as Windows.
